MESSAGE TO THE XI WORLD FOOD DAY*

 
On the occasion of the 11th World Food Day the Holy Father expresses his best wishes to all those whose mission is to foster an awareness of the problems related to food and hunger throughout the world. He hopes that the programme which your organization began in 1987 on «Forest, Trees and Mankind», which is being followed by this world day on «The tree, the source of life», may in every country help to safeguard the planet's patrimony and prepare an inhabitable earth for future generations. He also hopes that your voice will be heard by everyone so that the nations may become aware of the tree's importance for our planet's ecosystem. Assuring all those who participate in this day of his support for this long-term educational mission, His Holiness asks God the Creator of all things to shower you all with an abundance of blessings
